Stanley C. Carlson

Stanley C. Carlson, 94, died on February 8, 2019, in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was born on March 5, 1924, on a farm near Oakland, Nebraska where he lived until 1943 when he joined the U.S. Army and served in W.W. II. Stan graduated from Midland College (now University), Fremont, Nebraska, and received his Masters and Doctorate degrees from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.

He was the Elementary Coordinator for Nebraska City schools, taught at Midland University, served as a consultant to the Winnebago Reservation schools, and worked for the Nebraska State Department of Education.

Stan is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joan (Hast, Amland) Carlson; his daughters, Karen Statham and Kirsten (Ralph) Kurtz; his sons, Nick (Nancy) Carlson, Les (Linda) Carlson, Bob (Joyce) Carlson, Steve (Irina Mozuliova) Amland, Adam (Ines Herrera) Amland, and Noah Amland; as well as 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, his sister-in-law, Ann Lindblom, and brother-in-law, Kenneth Hast, and many loved nieces and nephews.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Esther and Gust Carlson, his first wife Marjorie Carlson, granddaughter JaDee Voss, son-in-law Bob Hansen, sisters and brothers: Edith (Ralph) Johnson, Elaine Mansfield, Alton (Marie) Carlson, Ellwood (Ruth) Carlson, sister-in-law, Helen Hast, brother-in-law, Jack Lindblom.

Stan served in many volunteer positions: First Lutheran Church Council, Fremont Board of Education, Southeast Community College Board of Governors, Nebraska State Community College Board, and Nebraska Educational Television Commission. He also helped start Planned Parenthood and Head Start in Fremont, Nebraska.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, February 23, 2019, at First Lutheran Church, 1551 S. 70th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska, 68506. The inurnment will take place at the church’s columbarium. Pastors Dan Warnes and Justin Eller officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials go to First Lutheran Church, or to the donor’s designation.
