Russel W. Huetson

Russel W. Huetson, 87, of Lincoln passed away July 9, 2021. Born June 9, 1934, in Firth, NE to Earl and Nellie (Mollins) Huetson.

Russel graduated from Adams High School in 1952 where he played in every sport, although football was his favorite. He married Norma Behrens, also from Adams, on June 7, 1953.

He lived in Crete, Nebraska for a few years, and then Lincoln.

He was an avid golfer and played many years with friends.

Russel was a member of the Husker Track Officials Association and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1996. He was a big Husker football fan. During the Coach Devaney era, he worked on the Nebraska football sideline keeping the team in the restricted area to avoid penalties.

Russel was a member of the Sheridan Lutheran Church.

He retired after 35+ years as salesman for Harding Glass Company, having made many friends in the business.

Family members include his wife, Norma; daughter Angie (Mike) Luben, Wahoo; son Curt (Pam) Huetson, Westminster, CO; grandchildren Zachary, Trevin, and Taylor Luben, Kelcy (Steph) Burg, Connor and Delaney Huetson; great grandson Fox Burg; brother Bill (Marilyn) Huetson, Gretna.

Preceded in death by his parents, sisters Beth Scaggs, Pauline Kiene, Marjorie Nieveen, and Dorothy Schoenholz.

Memorial Service: 1:30 p.m., Thursday (7-15-21) Sheridan Lutheran Church, 6955 Old Cheney Rd.
