Richard A. Cookus, 73, of Lincoln passed away April 15, 2019. Born September 3, 1945 in Beatrice, NE to Frank and Mary (Andrews) Cookus.
Richard worked in print shops for the State of Nebraska and Centel for many years. He enjoyed cooking, junk shopping, and spending time with his family.
Family members include his wife of 50+ years Bettie (Campbell); daughter Stacy (Steve) Bechtel, Lincoln; grandson Kryton; brothers Frank Cookus, Wymore and Gary (Dawn) Cookus, Iola, KS; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends. Preceded in death by his parents; son Richie; brother and sister-in-law Don and LaVerne Cookus and an infant brother Walter.
Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday (4-27-19) Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street. Burial in Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers include Jim Cookus, Scott Cookus, Aaron Cookus, Jerry Lee Campbell, Tony Ray Denny and Curtis Campbell. Honorary Pallbearers include Steve Bechtel, Allen Campbell, Matt Campbell, Shawn Campbell, Carter Denny, Jim Hudson, Matt Hudson and Bruce Dambach.
