William G. “Bill” Benischek, 62, of Lincoln, died peacefully Monday (12-2-13) after a six month battle with cancer. Bill passed away at home while enjoying a sunny morning on his front porch. Born (3-30-51) in Lincoln, NE to William F. and LaVera (Hoppmann) Benischek. Ret. after 20 years at Kawasaki. A graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University. Served as sextant at Malcolm Cemetery for many years. Attended the Methodist Church. An avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. Bill lived for his family, always involved with his children and grandchildren. He was a friend to many.
Family members include his wife, Kathy; daughter, Shelley Mae McHugh, Malcolm; sons, William Michael (Stephanie) Benischek, Oregon, Daniel James (Rebecca) Benischek, Wisconsin, Benjamin Lee Benischek, Lincoln; grandchildren; Tucker McHugh, Christian, Gabriel, Samantha, Tessa and Tobias Benischek; mother, LaVera Benischek, Malcolm; brother, Russell (Suzanne) Benischek, Iowa; sister, Barbara (Robert) Bourg, Lawrence, NE; mother-in-law, Mae Thorfinnson, Seward, NE; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, Sherry and John Lorenz, Lincoln, Angie and Jack Fuller, Seward; many other loving family members; beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by father, William F.; fathers-in-law, Bob Flader and James Thorfinnson; brother-in-law, Kevin Flader.
Memorial Service: 10:00 am Thursday (12-5-13) Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street with Pastor Michael Benischek officiating.
Memorials in lieu of flowers to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
No visitation/cremation.
