William ‘Bill’ D. Franzen, 70, of Lincoln, passed away on December 31, 2022, after a 2.5 year battle with lung cancer. He was born on May 6, 1952, in Lincoln to Richard and Ella (Fisser) Williams.
Bill enjoyed many hobbies; hunting, fishing, woodworking, landscaping/gardening, and Husker Football. He most enjoyed time spent with family. Bill worked many years as a welder and in quality control for Nebraska Boiler and Progress Rail. Bill was a proud Vietnam Veteran recipient of the Bronze Star and a member of VFW Post 131.
Family members include his wife of 50 years, Beth; sons Dan Franzen and Neil (Christy) Franzen both of Lincoln; daughter Michelle (Grant) Albers of Sioux Falls, SD; brother-in-law Ken Witham; grandchildren, Rebecca, Allison (Nate) Petra, James, Hailey, Holden, Katie, Christopher, and Danae; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents Ella and Richard, son Eric Dean, grandson Eric Daniel, brother Richard Franzen, sisters Jean Tuttle, Joyce Urbanovsky, and Marcia Walters.
Funeral Service to be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2023, at Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street, Lincoln (10). Visitation will be held Thursday, January 5, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A livestream of the service will be available 10 minutes prior to the service at roperandsons.com
