Vonna Kay (Royal) VanNess, 57 years young, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023 surrounded by family and friends. She was born July 9, 1965 to Cornelius and Claire Royal. Vonna was their fourth child.
She attended Elliot grade school, Culler Junior high, Lincoln High School, but finished school in Kansas through job corp. While there, she took up culinary arts.
She had her hands in several different jobs. There was nothing she would not try, from cleaning buildings, Aging Partners, and working at subway. She enjoyed taking care of Mrs. Betty Brown, laughing and reminiscing about the old days.
Vonna loved spending time with family, going to cookouts (she never missed a Keith Moore cookout), fishing, shopping, and traveling. You name it she was going. She especially enjoyed the trip she took with her brothers to Texas.
Vonna was preceded in death by her father, Cornelius Royal, sisters, Marla and Ronnica Royal, brother, MarKus Henderson, and all of her grandparents.
She is survived by her mother, Claire Royal; brother, Jerry (Monica) Royal; sister, Annette (Ray) Johnson; her loving sons, VaDoll and Zach VanNess; special daughter, Que Nita Greene; 4 beautiful granddaughters by VaDoll. She also leaves to cherish in her memory nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.
Vonna, better known as K.C. was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother. She will be missed by all.
Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2023 at No Greater Love Church, 2015 S. 16th Street, Lincoln, NE.
Burial at Wyuka Cemetery, Lincoln, NE.
