Vivian L. Carlson

Vivian L. Carlson, 93, went to Heaven on January 11, 2015 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at First Covenant Church, 201 Ave H., Fort Dodge, Iowa. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, January 13, at Gunderson Funeral Home, 1615 N. 15th St, from 4 PM to 7 PM.

Survivors include daughters Claudia Russell (Steve), Lincoln, NE; Cynthia Fraley, Columbia, SC; Son Jeff Carlson (Janet) Naperville Il; son-in-law Bob Hudson, Denison, IA; 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, and her lifelong friend Erma Williamson.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence Carlson, her daughter Crystal Hudson, six brothers and one sister, and a grandson.

Vivian was born Vivian Lorraine Cervene on October 16, 1921, in Fort Dodge. She attended Ft Dodge public schools and graduated in 1940. After graduation, she attended Tobin Business College and then went to work at the Fort Dodge paper company. She married Clarence Carlson on February 15, 1942, at the First Covenant Church. Vivian continued to work while her husband was stationed in England, France, and Germany during World War II. She later served for over 20 years as a secretary at Kaderabeck Electric Company in Fort Dodge.

Vivian was a lifelong member of the First Covenant Church, participating in many church organizations including the church choir, religious circles, and prayer groups.

Vivian was a friend to everyone she met and was loved by all. We will miss her very much.
