Obituary

Travis Jay Starkey

March 25, 1995 - May 7, 2023

Travis Jay Starkey, 28, of DeWitt, NE passed away May 7, 2023, in Omaha. Born March 25, 1995, in Lincoln, NE to Todd and Dawn (Anderson) Starkey.

Travis graduated from Tri County High School in DeWitt (2013) and University of Nebraska Omaha where he was a member of the Sig Phi Epsilon Fraternity and Alpha Kappa Delta Sociology Honor Society at University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Travis worked as a Sr. Production Lead for Signature Performance in Omaha since June 2020. Production Support Leads at Signature are responsible for managing various client inquiries, claims resolution review, and oversight of provider, member, and benefit files in our ClaimsXM automated processing system. In this role, associates are often providing support to other associates in claims processing and ensuring data integrity in an auto-adjudication setting.

Travis was also in the Emerging Leaders class of 2022, where a strong group of Signature Performance associates were selected to participate in a 9-month leadership lab journey which ends in a leadership presentation of learning! He loved his job and many customers commented he was very helpful to them.

Travis was full of energy, loved wrestling, fishing, pizza, family, friends, his car, job and his music. He was willing to go the extra mile for anyone who needed his help. Travis acted tough, yet truly had a kind and loving heart and soul.  He was there for anyone and everyone who needed it.  He wanted to help as many people as he was able.  Travis lived in the moment and wasn’t afraid to just do the wild and crazy things others are reluctant to try.

Family members include his parents Todd and Dawn Starkey; brother Jacob; grandparents Eleanor and Dale Novotny and Mike and Ellen Anderson; aunts and uncles Robert Anderson, Sandi and Bob Meier, Sherri Valentine, Don Novotny, and Deedee Novotny; cousins Danielle, Lauren, Jordan, Isabella, Annika, and Aynslee (Mikey), Braux and Bryce.

Funeral service: 4:00 pm Friday, May 19, 2023, Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Drive.

Visitation with family present from 5-7 pm on Thursday, May 18, 2023, as well as 1 hour prior to the service at Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel.

I am sorry for your loss. I hope you can find peace and comfort in knowing you have the chance to see Travis again. “There is going to be a resurrection.” (Acts 24:15) What a wonderful time this will be!

I met Travis through some mutual friends. I’m not really sure how, but over time we connected more and had some great conversations. I remember laying outside under the stars with him one night when it was just the two of us spending time together talking about life and the universe. Travis would always come to my parties in college and we always had a fun time. I always valued his outside of the box thinking about everything, and how he marched to his own drum. I’ll cherish the memories of those times in our lives. I hope wherever his soul is now, he has found peace.

I met Travis through work during our Emerging Leaders program last year. From the moment we became friends, I knew I was in the presence of someone special. I’ll forever be grateful for the time we had on this earth my brother. From memes, to slaying zombies & whatever else we came across while gaming, to the deep life talks we always ended up having, your sense of adventure, humongous heart, and keen taste for only the best foods will always live on. Incredibly blessed to say that while I met Travis during some of the roughest patches I’ve had in recent memory, I can’t name a single time we’d part/end a conversation without me being in a better mood and lighter spirits. If I can make half the impact in other’s lives as you have mine, the world will be such a beautiful place

Travis was funny, kind, and smart. I was lucky enough to get to know him within the Emerging Leaders program at Signature Performance. Just a few months ago, a few of us, including Travis, even sat down and had brunch together. This was so unexpected and I sure will miss his amazing Mustache. He would always use cat emojis and Gifs with me because he said I was “THE cat person.” I also loved his presentation of learning speech he did, which I will link below! He put a smile on many people’s faces and he will be missed!
