Tammy Alvis

December 1, 1961 - April 21, 2014

Tammy Alvis, 52, passed away this past weekend at her home in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Tammy was a native Floridian who won an Emmy Award as a producer and director at the ABC affiliate in Miami before moving to Lincoln with her late husband, Steve. Tammy began working as a producer at KOLN-TV before taking a position at First-Plymouth Congregational Church as media director to produce their “Reach Out and Live” broadcast.

Tammy passes after 26 years of service at the church as Director of Media, Programming, and Operations. Her commitment to inclusion and her powerful creativity played a key role in the entire ministry of First-Plymouth. In addition, Tammy was an active member of the Lincoln community serving in leadership positions with the Lincoln Haymarket Development Corporation and the Downtown Lincoln Association Board of Directors.
Tammy is preceded in death by her husband Steve Alvis and parents Charles and Diana Schwartz.

She is survived by her sister Nadine and her husband Elliot Rosenberg, brother Robert Schwartz and Iris Echavarria, uncle Lenny Schwartz, nieces Lauren Budik, Shana Rosenberg and Layla Connelly, nephew Justin Echavarria, special friend Layne Nelson as well as a loving church family and many friends who will miss her dearly.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Tammy at First-Plymouth (2000 D St.) in Lincoln, Nebraska at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 26th.

Memorials in lieu of flowers to First-Plymouth Church for random acts of kindness or Lincoln Parks Foundation for the Sunken Gardens.
