Karen and family, I was saddened and very sorry to find that Shirley has passed away. When I was the service coordinator at Capitol View she would often request my assistance in providing random acts of kindness to her neighbors. The Christmas season was especially magical for her and she would be delighted to “pay it forward”. For the 7 years I knew Shirley we shared some tears of joy following the kindness she provided each year. I will remember Shirley fondly and hope that your memories of her bring you comfort as well.

Shirley was not only my sister, she was my friend, my pal, my teacher in many ways. I will always remember her for her acts of kindness and reaching out to those in need with genuine compassion. She was strong, was smart and a loving mother and grandmother. I will always miss her and her sense of humor. Such a deep loss for us but the Universe shines more brightly. Rest in Peace, Shirley. I bet the first thing you did was walk to Jimmy John’s for a sandwich. Be Still and Know That I Am. Love you,

Shirley and I worked together for a number of years. As she was from New York, I had to teach her about growing up in Nebraska. One thing I will never forget was that we were dressing chickens—she couldn’t figure out why we put clothes on them. We had a good laugh when I told her what we were doing. Kevin and Karen she was a SPECIAL woman
