Shirley Jean Hartsock

Shirley J. Hartsock, 84, of Lincoln, passed peacefully on January 19th, 2019. Shirley, daughter of Seth and Betty (Yantzi) Scott was born and raised in Lincoln, NE. She was the pride of Lincoln High as a member of the Dirty-18. She was educated at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln where she was a proud member of Alpha Phi sorority. After graduation, she worked as a teacher to put her husband, Dick through law school.

Shirley was a member of First Plymouth Congregational Church, Jr. League of Lincoln, P.E.O., and Daughters of the Nile. She enjoyed many hobbies including being a master puzzler, following the Royals, Nebraska Volleyball, Baseball and especially Husker Football. First and foremost, Shirley was a dedicated mother. She treasured her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. She spent many later years traveling to San Diego and Phoenix to spend time with them.

She is survived by her husband Dick of 62 years, children Bob (Ember), Bill (Kim), Jim (Annette) and Tom (Linda), as well as ten grandchildren (Briana, Elyssa, Ryan, Brandon, Andrew, Megan, Cody, Seth, Michael, and Jessica) and two great grandchildren (George and Dolly). Her parents preceded her in death.

Family & friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Shirley’s Life at First Plymouth Church on Saturday, January 26th at 11:00 a.m.

The family will greet friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25th, 2019 at Roper and Sons Funeral Home, 4300 ‘O’ St,. Lincoln.

No visitation/Cremation.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
