Sheila Jean Hanneman, 85, of Lincoln, NE, also known as Jeannie, Einstein, Chicken Little, and Aunt Green Jean went to be with God on January 13, 2024. Sheila was born in Lincoln, NE to John and Elnore (Miles) Mutchie on October 21, 1938.
She attended St. Patrick’s School and was known to the nuns as their Little Angel. She graduated high school at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Throughout her life, she remained connected to her close girlfriends from school, and they would have special gatherings to talk about their lives and past lives.
Sheila retired from Burlington Northern Railroad where she worked for many years as the executive secretary for the diesel shop. Back in the day, before direct deposit, she would personally hand payrolls checks to each employee and would take the time to visit with each of them. She was also the clown at Burlington Northern’s annual picnic as well as Mrs. Clause for their annual Christmas celebration. Both events, with photos, were published in the company newspaper exhibiting Sheila’s beautiful smile and dedication to making others happy.
Sheila had five children with Roland Noel: Deb (Yoch) Ameku, Michaele Lindschmidt, Tim Noel, Shawn Noel, and Ellie (Jack) Davis. She later married Terry Hanneman and spent over 40 years together. They have 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Sheila dearly loved her family and beloved pets, Missy and Muffy. She especially loved hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas so everyone could gather. Her kitchen was always the heart of the home. She was an exceptional cook, and everyone loved her homemade feats, especially her potato salad. She was extremely generous to those she loved at Christmas time and “giving” gave her great joy.
Aside from the joy of cooking, she loved reading books, going to garage sales, decorating her home, gardening, going to the movies, rock collecting, and taking trips with Terry to the Black Hills. She loved music and dancing at the Moose Club with Terry and friends.
Sheila is survived by her children Deb (Yosh) Ameku, Michele Lindschmidt, Timothy Noel (Brenda Kaiser), and Ellie (Jack) Davis; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; sisters Yvonne Shelton, Eloise (Trenton) Decker and brother Scott Mutchie; nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Terry Hanneman and Father of children Roland Noel, son Shawn Noel, grandson Shawn Noel, brother Jeff Mutchie, beloved cousin Dianne Bailey, and brother in law Roy Shelton.
Sheila’s life has had its moments of happiness in the births of new family members and tragedies in the deaths of family members. But her faith and love of God gave her the strength to carry on. And, to the end, she remained connected to Our Lord, Jesus Christ, and now she is with God in his Heavenly Kingdom with those whom she had misses dearly.

My prayers go out to all of you during this sad time. I pray for Gods comfort to each of you. My years working with Sheila at the diesel shop were the most special. Her skills as an Administrative assistant were unmatched. Her loyalty, kindness, and positive attitude permeated throughout the facility. So much of our time spent together involved talking about family. So was so proud of her family. She loved talking about “her girls”…… God Bless you all
