Obituary

Sharon Gana

November 8, 1946 - December 17, 2024

Sharon K. Gana, 78, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away on December 17, 2024. Sharon was deeply loved and will always be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family and her remarkable ability to care for others. She was a constant source of kindness, compassion, and support, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of everyone she touched.

Born and raised in Crete, Nebraska, Sharon spent her life as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. As a dedicated farmer’s wife, she played an integral role in the success of the family farm, managing the books, delivering parts, and ensuring everyone’s needs were met. Her home was a haven of warmth, where food, laughter, and heartfelt conversations were always shared. Known for her boundless energy, Sharon was always on the move, pouring her heart into every task, project, and relationship. She cherished family traditions and ensured that holidays, birthdays, and milestones were always meaningful and memorable.

Sharon is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Paul; her sons, Craig (Lori) Gana and Kirk Gana, both of Martell, Nebraska; her cherished grandchildren, Kylie, Kyson, and Kaden; her sister, Tammy (Jay) Welsh of Hershey, Nebraska; her brother, Randy Henning of Martell, Nebraska; and her treasured niece and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Slema Henning Pracheil, and her brother, Jim (Trish) Henning.

Sharon embraced the simple joys of life: traveling to Texas as a snowbird with her husband, coffee runs, hosting family gatherings, cheering on Husker volleyball, and proudly supporting her grandchildren in all their activities. Her tireless spirit and energetic nature inspired all who knew her, and her life was a shining example of resilience, determination, and the enduring importance of family.

A funeral service to honor Sharon’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Roper and Sons South Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Drive, Lincoln.

Visitation will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024, at the same location, where the family will greet friends.

Sharon’s legacy of love, hard work, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

We met Paul and Sharon when Nebraska volleyball moved to the Devaney Center and they sat in front of us. Paul always had a joke to share and Sharon had a caring conversation and smile. Sharon was always my closest cousin. As kids, she would let me hang out with her. As adults, we became good friends and lately travel buddies. We had a lot of fun going to Atlanta to visit family, to Vegas with friends, to Spain and Portugal with my granddaughter and to Puerto Rico with two of my granddaughters. I am so thankful that we were able to have those adventures together and made so many memories. We will miss her a lot and will love her forever. Paul and family, love and hugs.

We spent many years on the bleachers with Paul & Sharon enjoying the kids and their countless sports and activities. I grew up knowing the Gana family but truly cherish the time we have spent the last many years and the memories we created because of traveling in the same circles. Sharon will be dearly missed! Our condolences to the whole Gana family for their loss!
