Sandy was born February 14, 1945, in Fort Riley, KS to Orin and Doris Dillon. As a child and teen, Sandy was involved in Girl Scouts. She was named a Gold Award Girl Scout and was a recipient of the Curved Bar. She graduated from Edgar High School in 1963.
Shortly after graduating, Sandy moved to Lincoln, NE where she met Robert “Bob” Picraux. They married on August 28, 1965, and spent the next 59 years in a loving partnership. Sandy dedicated her time to raising their four children while working part time. Once all the kids were in school, she began working full time until retirement.
Sandy and Bob enjoyed traveling all over the U.S. right up until her final days. She was happiest on a beach in the pacific northwest hunting for agates. Sandy loved the outdoors, animals (especially cats) and gardening, but her true calling was as a caregiver to her family. Her selfless love will never be forgotten. She was also known for her kindness, taking in any soul who needed a place to stay, from stray cats to wayward friends of her children.
Sandy is preceded in death by her parents, and her son Jason Picraux. She is survived by her husband Bob Picraux; daughter Leslie Picraux; sons Corey Picraux (Melissa Tehee) of Smithfield, UT and Jeffre (Rebecca) Picraux of Lincoln, NE; brother Veon Dillon (Anita Hansen) of Bellevue, NE; sister Marcia (Dave) Jarosik of Fairfield, NE; five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held at Roper & Sons South Chapel 3950 Hohensee Dr. Lincoln, NE on Saturday October 26 with a viewing at 9 am followed by a service at 10 am and lunch to follow.
