Sally A. Beck, of Lincoln, died Feb. 23, of respiratory failure and complications of a stroke. She was 87. Sally lived at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital for the past several years.
She retired from Southeast Community College, where she was a career placement officer, working with employers and students. Previously, she taught English at Lincoln Pius X High School. Earlier in her career, she was an information specialist at NET-TV for 11 years. She prepared program listing, scheduled press conferences, wrote press releases and scheduled tours of the TV station. Sally worked in information and personnel jobs for the YMCA, the Girl Scouts, and several other businesses and public agencies in Lincoln.
After her retirement, she volunteered at the Cathedral of the Risen Christ and Pius. She enjoyed many trips to Colorado, California and Yellowstone National Park, where she attended reunions of former students who had worked there over their summer vacations.
She graduated from Lincoln High School and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Sally is predeceased by her parents, Leo J. and Gertrude W. Beck; her brother, Leo J. Beck Jr.; and her sisters, Marilyn Sue Klippert (and Gerald Klippert), Joeline B. Venter (and Donald Venter). Also her nephew Daniel Klippert.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Phyllis K. Beck, of Lincoln. Also nieces and nephews Steve Klippert, California; Jody Beck, Washington, D.C.; Ron Beck (Betty), Denver; Larry Beck, Portland, Ore.; Jeannine Keairnes (Scot), San Antonio, Texas; Marcia Brown (Bill), Omaha; and Dan’s wife, Donna, Arizona.
Also grand nieces and nephews Roxanne and Danielle Klippert, California; Jon Beck, Redwood City, Calif.; Alex Beck, Palmer, Alaska; Alida Beck, New York City; Sam Keairnes and Peter Keairnes, San Antonio; Alyssa Brown, Bellevue, Wash; Laura Brown, Overland Park, Kan.; Joe Brown, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Carly Brown, Olympia, Wash.
A rosary will be said at Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 O St., at 7 p.m. March 8. A funeral Mass will be said at the Cathedral of the Risen Christ at 10:30 a.m. March 9. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cathedral or another charity.
