Ronald G. Samson

Ronald G. Samson, 75, of Lincoln, died at home on April 22, 2013. He graduated from Clarion High School in 1954, and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Iowa. He worked at Square D Company for 34 years, ultimately becoming the Lincoln Plant Manager.

In addition to his career at Square D, Ron was a Lincoln Electric System Board member, a docent at the Smith Collection Museum of American Speed, and a member of First- Plymouth Congregational Church. He was active in the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, Lincoln Amateur Radio Club, Early Ford V-8 Club of America, Holmes Lake Sailing Club, and a charitable member of the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra. He was an avid ukulele and harmonica player.

Ron and his wife, Susan, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in September 2012. He is also survived by his three children, Mary of San Francisco, California; Sarah and husband Jesse Castro of Austin, Texas; and Robert and partner Sarah Lederle of Missoula, Montana.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, at First-Plymouth Congregational Church, 2000 D Street. A reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, family memorials can be sent to HoriSun Hospice Services, First-Plymouth Congregational Church or Nebraska Jazz Orchestra. No Visitation/Cremation.
