Roger Martin Jackson, 84, of Lincoln, went to be with the Lord March 3, 2022. Born January 17, 1938, in Ponca, NE to Carl and Gladys (Olsen) Jackson.

Roger worked 40 years for Olsson Assoc. as a draftsman. He served in the Army National Guard. He was a member of Faith Bible Church. Roger enjoyed woodworking and building and flying gliders. He gave the best hugs, had a great sense of humor and was an entertaining storyteller.

Family members include his daughters Rose Hedin, Tukwila, WA, and Grace (Mike) Courtney, San Diego, CA; grandchildren Nathan (Amanda) Courtney, Andrew (Cheryl) Courtney, and Ashley (Giusseppe) Ghio; great-grandchildren Abigail and Zoey Courtney, Selah and Emet Ghio; sister-in-law Sandra Sutter, Orlando, FL. Preceded in death by his parents, and wife Jeanette.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

I first met Roger when I started working for John Olsson at the end of my freshman year at UNL. He taught me a great deal as I continued through college, and as I became a young engineer at Olsson Associates. I enjoyed working with Roger until he retired. I always thought he had a great sense of humor.

As a young engineer fresh from graduation I had the honor and privilege to learn from Roger about Olsson’s business, drawing, lettering and how to assemble a good set of plans. My lettering was so bad the first note I lettered on a drawing, as instructed by John Olsson, was erased by Roger at John’s request. I went on to have 40+ years with the firm and Roger continued to be a mentor.
