Rodney Frederick Werth

September 14, 1921 - June 29, 2011

Rodney Frederick Werth, 89, Lincoln, died Wednesday (6-29-11). Born (9-14-21) in Minden, Nebraska to Frederick W. and Lydia (Widiger) Werth. Ret. Research and Design Development for Cushman Motors. WWII U. S. Army Air Force Veteran. Rodney was a 60 plus year faithful member and choir member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the American Legion. His favorite charities were the WWII Memorial, Wounded Warrior Project, National Kidney Foundation, American Veterans and the D.A.V. He liked to read, enjoyed history, crossword puzzles, baseball and playing the organ. Rodney’s life was based on serving God in creating a joyful noise.

Family members include beloved wife of 48 years: Margaret; son, daughter-in-law: Steven (Mary) Werth, San Marco, TX, Daughter: Judy Werth, Lincoln, son: Duane Werth, Rockport, TX, daughter, son-in-law: Sheila (Phil) Busch, Warsaw, OH; brother, sister-in-law: Warren (Ruth) Werth, Richardson, TX; sister: Beverly Phillips, Orange, CA; beloved sister-in-law: Roberta Werth, Wichita, KS; grandchildren: Michele, Ryan, Jimi, Timothy, Matthew, Heather and Dawn; great grandchildren: Stuart, Calvin, Bobbi, Michaelynn, Reilly, Collette, Zoey, Logan, Jack, Austin, Ethan, Nina, Trevin, Alexis and Christopher. Preceded in death by parents, sister Audrey, brother Wesley, granddaughter Wendy and infant great grandchild Geoffrey.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday (7-5-11) Trinity Lutheran Church, 724 South 12th Street. Pastor Matt Tooman, officiating.

Memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project or Trinity Lutheran Church.

Visitation: 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday with family greeting friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Roper and Sons, 4300 ‘O’ Street and one hour prior to service time at the church.
