It is with great sadness we share Richard L. Raley of Hallam, Nebraska passed away peacefully at Gracepointe in Lincoln, NE on April 8th, 2025 at the age of 84. Rich was born July 26th, 1940 to Clarence and Minnie Raley in Kansas City, MO and lived in several states before settling in Nebraska full-time.
He excelled at many professional endeavors during his life, including carpentry, flooring installer, mechanic, printer pressman and a plumbing/HVAC salesman with Capitol Supply before retiring from Lincoln Winnelson. He was an avid carpenter, golfer, and fisherman, who loved camping and spending time outdoors.
Rich is survived by his wife Karleen; daughters Deb (John) Umland, Pam (Kris) Olesen, Angie (Don) Hackney, Dawn (Robert) Weatherly, Ranee (Les) Bennett, daughter-in-law Lisa Raley; brother-in-law Randy Freeman; sisters Linda (David) Brill, Ellen (Steve) Cancino; sisters-in-law Irene Gibson, Ramona Cookus and Delight Dragoo; grandchildren Zachary (Cheyenne) Umland, Sierra (Connor) Rathman, Matthew (Casey) Tonniges, Lucas (Jaclyn)Tonniges, Elizabeth (Ben) Wittrock, Shaylyn Hackney, Tanner (Dana) Hackney; Erin Raley, Kristy Raley, Dallas Mills and Dustin Mills. He was very blessed with many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Minnie Raley; son, Christopher Raley; sister, Sue Freeman; brothers-in-law Elmer Gibson and Allen Cookus and nephew, JD Tutty.
Rich will be remembered for his loving spirit, his dedication to his family, and his passion for the simple joys of life. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. In his honor, memorial gifts given will be designated for planting trees and cart path upgrades at Hidden Acres Golf Course in Beatrice, NE or to Nebraska Fish and Wildlife for restocking hatcheries.
Memorial service: 11:00 am Saturday, April 12, 2024, Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Dr.
In Rich’s honor, memorial gifts given will be designated for planting trees and cart path upgrades at Hidden Acres Golf Course in Beatrice, NE or to Nebraska Fish and Wildlife for restocking hatcheries.
