Richard L. “Dick” West, 82, of Lincoln, NE passed away peacefully on September 3, 2024. He was surrounded by his loved ones as the Lord brought him home. Dick was born to John and June (Gerlach) West, May 2, 1942. He was married to the love of his life, LaVella (Gillig) West for 63 years. In 2004, he retired from Bryan East Hospital after 34 years of dedicated service. In his free time, you would find him out fishing or washing one of his many beloved trucks, which he kept immaculate. He loved seeing and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was very proud of his family. He is survived by his wife, LaVella; brother, Eddie West; daughters, Terri (Todd) Claussen and Tammy (Jerry) Roh; grandchildren, Max Laird, Laura (Kale) Holst and Brett (Haley) Claussen; and great-grandchildren, Jack, Oliver and Lane Richard Holst. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Lawrence (Bud) West, and an infant sister.
Visitation will be held 11:00 am-12:30 pm Monday, September 9, 2024, at Metcalf Funeral home, 245 N. 27th Street, Lincoln, NE followed by graveside services at Wyuka Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family for future designation.
