Dick and twin brother Dexter were born in Lincoln to Wade and Eloise (Barr) Hilligoss and big sis Judy.
He attended Lincoln High school where he met the love of his life, Naoma Fritts. They married in 1958. For 64.5 years they modeled a marriage of unfailing love, affection and devotion. They have 3 sons, David (Connie) of Lincoln, Donald (Lori) of Olathe, KS and Darrin (Tracy) of Mesa, Arizona.
Dick worked for 35 years for the NE Department of Labor. In addition he had a thriving lawn service and was a professional Santa Claus for 45 years. Dick’s love of children made him one of the greatest Grandpa’s you could have hoped for. Wade (Jenna), Jacob (Billie), Brad (Andrea), Kara (Brandan Tierney) and Mallory all learned how to love and laugh from him. They rewarded him with 8 great grandchildren to share his love with.
Dick shared his generous heart by rocking babies at Cedars Homes and he donated blood for decades reaching more than 20 gallons.
Dick ran marathons, was a diehard Dodgers fan, an avid hunter and fisherman, played oh so many pranks, told thousands of jokes, gave unexpected gifts, served as a Deacon and was a faithful child of God.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his family listed above, sister-in-law Pearl Fritts and extended family.
