Richard B. Hobson, 94, of Lincoln, NE passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018. Born January 12, 1924 to John and Esther (Bowman) Hobson in Weeping Water, NE. Retired network engineering director with Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph for 41 years. He received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nebraska Lincoln. United States WWII Navy Veteran, served in the American Theater, Asiatic, and Pacific. Commander of the Naval Reserve Div-9-145 in Lincoln, NE. Member of Trinity Methodist Church, and Rotary Club. Past President of the Nebraska Telephone Association, Nebraska Arabian Horse Assoc., Past Master of Lancaster Lodge #54 and member of Sesostris Shrine and Scottish Rite, Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop #19.
On July 5, 1945 Richard and Alice (King) Hobson were married in Riverside Church in New York, NY.
Survivors include, son, Richard (Cheryl) Hobson of Lincoln, daughters, Diann (Rodger) Merz of Lincoln, Mary (Ryan) Jensen of Lincoln; grandchildren, Jennifer (Hobson) Weiss and Rick of Fremont, Alison (Hobson) Mockenhaupt and Greg of Oakland, NE, Katherine (Merz) Green and Joel of Lincoln, Rachel (Merz) Burbach and Jesse of Lincoln, Lexi Jensen; great grandchildren, Madison, Connor and Alec; 2 great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Alice King Hobson; son, John K. Hobson; brother, Dean Hobson; and parents.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday (11-1-18) at Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Dr. (S. 40th & Yankee Hill Rd). Burial in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery.
No visitation.
