Rebecca Lynne Anderson, 53, of Lincoln, passed away December 6, 2013, after a long battle with ampullary cancer. She was at her home with her family at her side. Becky was born on April 21, 1960 in Kearney, NE to her parents James and Sharon (Peterson) Knapp. Becky was employed at the State Department of Revenue. She graduated from Kearney High School in 1978. She completed her secondary education as a paralegal and worked for her father at his law firm in Kearney.
While living and working in Kearney, she met Mike Anderson of Axtell, NE and they married at First Lutheran Church in Kearney on June 1, 1985. After they married, they moved to Grand Island where she was employed at Superior Mortgage. While she worked, she also attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney where she completed her BA in business administration. While finishing her degree, she had two daughters, Trish and Christi.
Becky was active in her community, serving as the president of the Engleman Elementary PTO and later also on the Northwest high school athletic booster board. She was a girl scout leader for both of her daughters. She was awarded state supervisor of the year in 2005, and has received three Admiral ships in the Great Navy of Nebraska and several recognitions from the state as an 18 year employee.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Becky is survived by her brother Peter Knapp of St. Paul, MN, his wife Cindy Jesson, and their four sons, Brad, Christopher, Nathan and John, her husband Mike Anderson and their daughters Trish and Christi.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday (12-14-13) at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1515 S. Harrison, Grand Island, NE with Pastor Bill Pavuk and Pastor Edgar Schambach officiating.
