Obituary

Patricia L. (McCreary) Brown

February 27, 1951 - December 26, 2024

Patricia Lynn McCreary Brown, 73, of Lincoln passed away on December 26, 2024. The world became a better place on Tuesday, February 27, 1951, when Patricia Lynn McCreary was born to Bill and Margaret (Dunsworth) McCreary in Enid, Oklahoma. Patricia graduated from Enid High School in 1969 before enrolling in Oklahoma State University that fall.

As a ninth grader, Pat met James Brown, the love of her life. They dated throughout high school and became engaged prior to James being deployed to Guam in the United States Navy. Their love story continued when they were married on December 27, 1970, before James was deployed to Viet Nam in 1971.

Pat was a kind and loving wife, friend and mother to Michelle Raye, Michael Jason, Mark Nathan and Matthew Scott. In September 1977 the Brown family moved to Lincoln where they became active members of Southwood Lutheran Church. Pat had a passion for teaching Sunday School, organizing Vacation Bible School, being part of Bible Study groups and serving on church committees. She enjoyed entertaining, spending time on the lake and traveling, especially to Hawaii, Vietnam, Greece, Italy and Ireland.

Pat’s greatest love, her pride and joy, were her children, and her grandchildren, Connor, Brady, Jacob, Avery, Michael, Allyson, Tylar, Trystan, Taygen, Madison, Kannon, Bennett, as well as her great-grandchildren, Rowan, Ames, Nella, and Amelia.

Cherishing the memories they hold dear are her husband, James, daughter, Michelle Goeden (Robert), sons, Michael (Lesa) and Matt, daughter-in-law, Christen Brown, sisters Pam (John) Brueggen, Neta (Bill) Wayman, brother Steve (Kathy) McCreary, many nieces and nephews and countless friends. Greeting Pat in heaven were her parents, son, Mark, brother Stan McCreary and grandson Jacob Goeden.

Patricia Lynn Brown will be remembered and celebrated for her gorgeous smile, her kind heart, and giving spirit. In celebration of Pat’s life, please share a random act of kindness this holiday season.

Pat lived a few houses away from me when we went to Taft Elementary in Enid. She always had a smile on her pretty face! Kind, gentle and sweet all the years I have known her! This is a hard one for me. God bless James and all the family as you navigate this immense loss.

I have so many memories of my mother that I cherish so much. The first memory of my childhood came when I was 5 years old running with friends outside of a church function. Being the rambunctious 5 year old I was my attention was not being paid on where I was running and I hit my head square on a brick column, splitting my head wide open. My mother panicked but kept her composure. Her and a friend swiftly drove me to the hospital where I got 10 stitches in my forehead. I’ll never forget how my mom rushed to my side picked me up and spead me to the hospital. She is the most amazing person I have ever met. Her loving nature and awesome personality will be missed but never forgotten.
