Mitch had special appreciation for his long-time friendship with John Paul and his mother Natalia Kinport. He was also grateful for the support and friendship of Brandon and Kaelyn Lyons.
Mitch graduated from Atkinson High School in 2003. In high school, Mitch participated in wrestling, show choir and ROTC. He received a scholarship to Central Christian College of the Bible in Moberly, Missouri. Mitch continued in the Missouri National Guard in college. He was called to active-duty April 2005, served one year in Iraq, as soldier and chaplain assistant, and satisfied his military obligation in April 2010.
Mitch explored many career paths that he was passionate about. He worked at the Moberly Correctional Facility as a guard for a couple of years, Saunders County Jail as a deputy, Boys Town Family as Resident Family Parent, State of Nebraska Social Services, and a few other employers. Most recently, he enjoyed being an Uber and Lyft driver.
Mitch is remembered most for his tender heart, his desire to help others, his manners, his sense of humor, his thick glasses, and his big smile. Often, Mitch spoke of His love for the Lord Jesus. When he worked at a fast-food drive-thru in Grand Island, in his very deep voice, he often surprised a customer with “Would you like fries and Jesus with your order?” Then he would flash his biggest smile and a chuckle. No one ever complained.
His memorial funeral service will be held Friday, January 3, 2025, at 11.00 A.M. at Riverview Community Church in Ashland, Nebraska.
Following lunch at Riverview, Mitch will be buried at the Omaha National Cemetery at 2:30 P.M.
