Maxine Ann Miller, loving daughter, sister and aunt, passed away on July 17, 2019 at the age of 86. She was born on October 24, 1932 in Beatrice, Nebraska to John and Mina (Siefkes) Miller.
Maxine was baptized, confirmed and will be interred at Zion Lutheran Church in Pickrell, Nebraska. She was proud that both of her grandfathers helped build the church.
An independent spirit was encouraged by her parents. After graduating Filley High School, she attended, and received her degree from Lincoln School of Commerce. Later she learned to drive and was proud of owning several cars in her lifetime.
Her determination and feisty nature drove her to accomplish 54 years of earning a paycheck at Olson Construction and Bryan Hospital, as an accountant. After retirement, she continued as a volunteer at Bryan. She devoted many years to the Lincoln Women’s Chamber of Commerce, one of which as the President. During her time with the LWCC, she volunteered with other community organizations, including the Lincoln Food Bank. She also was a member of Women in Construction and Southwood Lutheran Church.
Free time was spent traveling the world, faithfully cheering on the Huskers and attending countless concerts and games of her nieces. Needlework, crossword puzzles and word searches gave her hours of enjoyment, as well as keep her mind active.
Devoted to her family, and friends, she leaves behind her sister Karen, nieces Natalie, Katie and husband Kevin, and great nieces Rachel and Chloe and great nephew Henry. Her sharp wit and ability to speak her mind will be missed.
Memorial Service will be 1:30 p.m., Monday (7-22-19) at Southwood Lutheran Church, 4301 Wilderness Hills Blvd. Burial at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Pickrell, NE.
Cremation/no visitation.
Memorial contributions may be directed towards the Food Bank of Lincoln or Southwood Lutheran Church.
