Matt was born in Virginia Beach, VA to Bradley Martin and Debi Beem. As a military family, they had the opportunity to travel and live in exciting locations including the island territory of Guam- one of Matt’s most memorable times! In 1996, Matt’s family returned home to Northwestern Iowa where Matt graduated from Westwood Highschool in 2004.
Anyone who knew Matt quickly learned that he was very intelligent and had an exceptional gift for Information Technology. He graduated from Kaplan University in Lincoln, NE and shared his talents through employment at Williams Group, The University of Nebraska, and Union Bank & Trust over the past 18 years. To watch Matt troubleshoot any IT related issue was to truly see him thriving in his element!
In 2005, Matt met Candice (Hottovy) and they began their love story together in Lincoln, NE! Matt took Candice on many fun adventures- beaches, winery trips, hikes in Colorado and tasting as many delicious cuisines as possible throughout their journeys! On fall Saturdays, they were dedicated to cheering on their favorite football teams. In 2017, Matt proposed to Candice on a special turtle beach in Florida, they married the following year and quickly added three beautiful sons Derek, Gavin & Landon to complete their little family.
Matt was a wonderful father, and his boys brought a special joy to his life! He taught Derek to cast a line and fish this summer and how to build some epic lego towers. Matt and Gavin spent many special times cuddling and watching children’s shows while enjoying their favorite snacks. Landon had Matt wrapped around his finger early on- he is truly a mini version of his daddy!
Matt is survived by his wife, three sons, parents Bradley (Barbara) Martin, Kansas City and Debi Beem, Papillion; grandmother Merriel Miller, Iowa; sisters Leah (Sarah) Martin, Omaha; Sarah (Nicholas) Carver, Alaska; Jewel Edenfield Papillion; Ana (Shane) Klockman, Kansas City; Emily Dascalos, Oregon; brother Jacob Martin, his loving parents-in-law, brother and sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces.
