Mary I. O’Shea

Mary I. O’Shea, 95, of Lincoln, passed away on December 29, 2023. Born in a snowstorm in Omaha, NE on April 13, 1928 she was the daughter of Frank and Anna (Meisinger) Libershal.

Mary was a school teacher her entire adult life. She taught 4th grade for LPS, most notably at Elliott, Lakeview and Roper elementary schools. She was a mentor, surrogate parent and friend to countless students over the span of her decades-long career. She will be remembered for her tireless work ethic, her genuine concern for the welfare of her students and the relationships she forged with her peers.

Mary was a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, earning both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree. She was a member of the Kappa Chapter of Chi Omega Sorority and a member of the Cathedral of the Risen Christ Catholic Church.

Family members include her son John O’Shea (Sue), Ann Arbor, MI; Kathleen O’Shea (Alan), Oklahoma City, OK; Karen O’Shea (Tom), Lincoln, NE and Mary O’Shea-Creal (Robert) all of Lincoln; 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, former husband Jack O’Shea, Sister Teresa John and Brothers Francis and Theodore Libershal.

NOTICE: NEW DATE DUE TO WEATHER!!

Rosary: 10:00am Wednesday, January 9, 2024, Cathedral of the Risen Christ, 3500 Sheridan Blvd. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am. Interment will be 2:00pm Wednesday at Holy Sepulchre Cemetary, Plattsmouth, NE.

Memorials may be given to The Food Bank of Lincoln.
