Mary A. Durrie

July 18, 1921 - March 22, 2019

Mary A. Durrie

Mary A. Durrie passed away peacefully at her home on March 22, 2019 at the age of 97. Mary was born on July 18, 1921 in Omaha, Nebraska. She lived in Omaha until she left for college, attending the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She earned her degree from UNL, where she also met the love of her life, Bob. Bob and Mary were married on August 17, 1944. Mary lived the rest of her life in Lincoln, raising her family and enjoying life with Bob until his passing in 1999.

Mary had a variety of jobs during her career, and also enjoyed memberships in many clubs and social groups. She enjoyed playing bridge and cheering on the Huskers. Through these activities, she formed many lasting friendships.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Robert P. Durrie, son, Robert P. “Chip” Durrie Jr., parents Walter and Alma Stephenson, sister and brother-in-law Agnes and Clarence Smith, brother Walter “Steve” Stephenson Jr. and close friend Boyd “Mac” MacDougal.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lynn Reiser (Durrie) and son-in-law Richard Reiser of Omaha, son Daniel Durrie and daughter-in-law Anne Durrie of Kansas City, Missouri and daughter-in-law Lauren Durrie of Lodi, Wisconsin. Sister-in-law Ruth Stephenson of Lincoln. Three wonderful Grandchildren and their spouses Todd and Carrie Reiser, Jason and Erin Stahl and Seth and Sally Christensen. 8 beloved Great Grandchildren Caroline and Courtney Reiser, Christian, Joshua, and Luke Stahl and Tyler, Nate and Luke Christensen. Many loving nieces and nephews. She will be missed by many.

A memorial service will be held on April 13 at 2:00pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lincoln, where Mary and Bob enjoyed many years of membership.

Memorials are suggested to the Bryan Hospital Foundation in Lincoln, Tabitha Hospice in Lincoln, Nebraska Coalition for Lifesaving Cures in Omaha and Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lincoln.
