Marvin Leroy Dudley

Marvin Leroy Dudley, 89, of Lincoln, passed away January 5, 2015. Born November 3, 1925 in Lincoln, NE to James Clarence and Clara Louise (Welsch) Dudley. Marvin attended Prescott Elementary, Irving Junior High and graduated from Lincoln High School. He attended Trinity Methodist Church where he was baptized, confirmed and married.

After graduating from high school he enlisted in the United States Army. He served overseas and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands. He was honorably discharged in June 1945. He continued his Military career by staying active in the Reserves. He was recalled to active duty during the Korean War. When he returned to Lincoln he attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln majoring in business. He worked for Lincoln Hatchery, the world’s largest hatchery. He later became co-owner. After his work in the hatchery business he continued his career in sales in the feed industry. His love for boats made him an avid boat racer in the 1950’s.

He bowled on several leagues throughout his life. He enjoyed woodworking and playing cards, teaching his granddaughter Callie how to play poker before she could write her own name. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, American Legion Club Post #3. Marvin will be remembered most for his sense of humor and his love for life. He loved “discussing” current issues and getting others involved in his discussions. He married Shirley Jeanne Witt on October 9, 1957. Four children came to this union.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Joseph L. Dudley, Burr, NE, Kim Renee (Richard) Anderson, Newman Grove, NE, Sue Ellen (William) Bolls, Midlothian, VA and Jean Elizabeth (Scott) Whitfield, Harlan, IA; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Melvin Dudley; sister, Phyllis Albert; nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by parents; grandparents; 2 infant brothers and sister, Janice.

Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. Saturday (1-10-15) Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ St. with Pastor Kerry O’Bryant officiating.

Memorials in lieu of flowers to Raymond Fire and Rescue.

No Visitation.
