Marlin was a U.S. Army veteran serving both stateside and in Germany. He loved hunting, fishing, and camping although he spent more time looking at Elk through a scope then he did shoot them. A treasured vacation was when Marlin and Mary packed up their six kids in the family station wagon and drove them all to California. Marlin was the most at home on his farm in Eastern Seward County where he enjoyed raising lots of different animals and working the land over the years. His family has lots of great memories of time spent trapshooting, riding around in the fields, looking for big rocks and watching the beautiful Nebraska sunsets. Marlin retired from Burlington Northern Railroad in 2001 where he worked as a carman, was on the derailment team and was a member of the Railroad Labor Lodge. In his later years his grandchildren’s activities kept him and Mary on the road and he loved to eat out at many different restaurants.
Marlin is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Belew; two daughters Ivy Pearl & Dan McVay – Merrill, WI and Rachael & Michael Neukirch – Lincoln, NE; and four sons, Lee Belew – Raymond, NE, Alan Belew – Lincoln, NE, Bryan & Tammy Belew – Kismet, KS, and Corey & Kindy Belew – Palmyra, NE.
