Marjorie Mudd Gibbs, 98, born (9/25/17) in Bassett NE. She graduated from high school in Arnold, NE and attended college in Kearney. She married Owen Rush Gibbs and lived in Broken Bow where her three children were born. After the war, they lived in Columbus, NE.
Marjorie was active in Bridge, Welcome Wagon, Boy Scouts, Square Dancing and sang in a quartet, performing at local, regional events and on the radio. Marjorie and Owen built Gibbs Construction Company installing power lines across Nebraska and Kansas. Recently Marjorie remembered, “We lit up the West. It was exciting to attend small town ceremonies as the switch was pulled and the town would light up in the darkness for the very first time.”
She is preceded in death by her husband, Owen Rush Gibbs and her son, Warren Timothy Gibbs and survived by 2 daughters: Doris Nicole Gibbs Serra, Holly Rose Gibbs Bohling, daughter in law, Mary Patlan Gibbs, 4 grandchildren: Sara Noelle DeMars, Jessa Ann DeMars Gillis, Amery Rose Bohling, Sara Nicole Bohling Wilson; and 3 Great Grandchildren: Hanna Rose Gillis, Holden Rush Wilson and McKenna Rose Wilson.
Memorials to St Elizabeth’s Hospice. No visitation. Private services at later date.
