Marjorie ‘Marge’ Wilnes

August 14, 1928 - August 23, 2024

Marjorie ‘Marge’ Wilnes, 96, Lincoln, passed away on August 23, 2024.  Marge was born on August 14, 1928, to Dan and Frances (Hunt) Arendt.  She grew up in Falls City, NE, and graduated from Falls City High School.  She was a cheerleader in Junior High School and in High School.  Marge attended and graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, MO.  She was also a graduate of the University of Nebraska, a member of Delta Gamma Sorority and a University of Nebraska cheerleader.  She always loved to play the piano and won ‘Superior’ in the District Music Contest.  Marge was extremely proud of this achievement.  She also played the clarinet in the Falls City High School Band.

Marjorie volunteered in the community with numerous organizations; the Junior League of Lincoln, the Regional Center, the ARC of Nebraska-Lincoln and State, the Human rights Committee and the Woods Award Committee at the Lincoln Regional Center.  Marge belonged to the same prayer group for over 50 years, always meeting on Thursday mornings.

She was a teacher with the Lincoln Public Schools, mainly first grade, and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church all her Lincoln life.  Marge is survived by her children, Kimberly Wilnes and Douglas (Wanda) Wilnes; sister Barbara Laflin; granddaughter Kasey (Corey) Hosack; step-great-grandsons Caden and Gavin.  She is preceded in death by her parents Dan and Frances, husband Norman H., son Jeffrey Stuart Wilnes, and her brother Cornell.

Celebration of Life Gathering: 12:00 p.m., August 27, 2024, Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel Reception Room, 4300 ‘O’ Street, Lincoln (10)-Entrance on West Side of Funeral Home.
