Marilyn Rose Rockenbach

October 25, 1983 - January 29, 2015

Marilyn Rose Rockenbach, Born October 25, 1983 in Des Moines Iowa to Gaylord and Bertha Bump. Marilyn had two sisters Virginia and Lenora as well as on brother Gaylord.

In 1967 Marilyn met Keith Rockenbach. It was love at first sight. They were married on march 9, 1968 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walton. This year would have been their 47th wedding Anniversary. Over the years they had three daughters Amy, Carrie, and Jody. These girls were her pride and joy. She taught them to be strong, independent women. She also taught then to love and love life and about Jesus. Marilyn wanted to be prepared for what the world had in store for them and more importantly for what lay after.

Though the lessons weren’t always appreciated at the time they were well taught and listened to more than we thought. The last ten years Marilyn was given the opportunity to teach these life lessons again only now to her grandsons Seth and Joshua Schultz. Whom she showered with love daily. Growing up Marilyn attended tent reveals and became an active member of the Salvation Army Church. She participated in services at the Des Moines Jail.

Provided meals and blankets to the homeless, and helped at kettle drives. Marilyn was a women of strong faith, which guided her through the trials of her life. Marilyn worked in various areas of the medical field from doctors’ offices to area hospitals. In 1996 Marilyn was diagnosed with cancer and due to complications from treatment had to leave the work force, but survived for 18 years before succumbing to cancer January 29th, 2015 when she went home to her lord and savoir.
