Margie Maxine Swanson

August 22, 1921 - September 16, 2016

Margie Maxine Kolb Swanson, 95, Ceresco, died Friday (9/16/16). She was born 8/22/21 in Omaha, NE to Christian “Chris” and Bertha (Mumm) Kolb. As a child Margie’s family lived in the Memphis and Greenwood areas. She was baptized, confirmed and married in the St. John Lutheran Church in Yutan. She graduated from Ashland High School in 1939 and worked at the Nebraska Ordinance Plant in Mead prior to her marriage to Ernest W. “Ernie” Swanson on June 18, 1942. She was Co-Founder of Ernie’s In Ceresco. She was a former associate of Nelson-Metcalf Funeral Home, a member of Ceresco Evangelical Covenant Church, Past State President of the American Legion Auxiliary-Department of Nebraska and member and past president of American Legion Auxiliary, Unit #244 in Ceresco, member Douglas County 40 & 8 and Volunteer Coordinator at the Lincoln Veteran’s Hospital.

Family includes: daughter, Mary Pack and special friend Walter Radcliffe, Lincoln, NE; son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Bev Swanson, Ceresco, NE; grandchildren, Korby Gilbertson and friend Jasen Kellar, Lincoln, NE, Paul (Julie) Pack, Jr., Lexington, NE, Tyler (Taylor) Swanson, Lincoln, NE, Brooke (Michael) Tabony, Ft. Worth, TX, Ashley (Jason)Young, Dallas, TX; great grandchildren, Kaelyn and Conner Pack, Hunter Gilbertson, Morgan and Madison Tabony, Emery and Bennett Young; many nieces, nephews and loving caregiver, Ilene Anderson and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, Caroline Kolb, Clara Kolb, Frances Timm, Oren Kolb, Edgar Kolb, twins Delmer and Elmer Kolb, and Mabel Browning.

Funeral service will be Thursday, 10:30AM at the Ceresco Evangelical Covenant Church, 208 Pine St., Ceresco, NE with Pastor Jodi Moore, officiating.

Visitation will be Wednesday, 2:00 – 8:00PM with the family greeting friends from 6:00 – 8:00PM at the church. Burial will be at Sunrise Cemetery, Wahoo, NE following lunch at the church.

Memorials may be given to the Ceresco Evangelical Covenant Church or the Ceresco American Legion Auxiliary.
