Lois J. Matthews, 100, of Lincoln passed away April 8, 2024. Born June 16, 1923, in Sterling, NE to John and Dena (Arnold) Shadley.

Lois was an active member of First Plymouth Church, PEO, and many additional activities.

Family members include her son James (Mary) Matthews, St. Louis Park, MN; daughter Jeanie Matthews (Brian) Claire, Naperville, IL; grandchildren Katherine Matthews (Jeff) Eichten, Michael Kent (Ashley) Claire, and Erin Claire (John) Kunkes; great grandchildren Ben, Joe, and Natalie Eichten, Ruby and Jackson Kunkes, and Llewellyn Claire; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents and husband Dr. Donald Matthews.

Graveside service: 11:00 am Friday, June 7, 2024, at Wyuka Cemetery, 3600 ‘O’ Street. Please meet at the O street entrance.

I’m sending sympathy from pastoral care from First Plymouth. I had the pleasure of visiting Lois often. What a wonderful experience for me. She shared wonderful stories of her life – the dust bowl and WWII as examples. Blessings of a life well lived and the joys I received from our visits.

Lois and Don were dear friends of my parents, Keay and Meredith Hachiya. They were in a “Dinner Club” with two other couples and all had so much fun. Lois and Meredith also were P.E.O. sisters. I remember Lois had a wonderful laugh. Sending condolences as you celebrate her long life. May happy memories replace tears.
