The daughter of Bill and Lucille Campbell, Linda was raised in Wahoo, Nebraska and grew up with her younger sister Pat Campbell. In Wahoo, she met the love of her life, Florian Hrdlicka, who she married in 1958, and then moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, where they raised their son, Mitch Hrdlicka. Florian and Linda recently celebrated their 65th anniversary on January 18th.
Linda spent much of her life serving her community in Lincoln with a particular passion for supporting the University of Nebraska student and athletic programs. Linda and Florian both served on athletic boards and they created the Florian and Linda Hrdlicka Scholarship Fund for the Nebraska baseball team. There was rarely a Husker game that Linda did not watch or attend.
In addition to athletics, Linda was a board member on the University of Nebraska Lincoln’s Hospitality, Restaurant and Tourism Management program advisory board, where she could pass along guidance and expertise from her storied career in the food service industry.
Linda was a trailblazer and mentor for women in the food service marketing industry. She spent a portion of her career at Sysco Corporation, eventually becoming Director of Marketing. Following that, Linda was Founder and President of Food Service Marketing. She also was the President of the board for the National Frozen Food Association.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Linda had a way of making anyone she met feel special and cared for. She enjoyed attending Husker sporting events, spending time with her family, shopping, and chatting on the phone.
Linda is survived by her husband, Florian Hrdlicka, her son, Mitch (Jean) grandson Matt (Samantha), and many nieces and nephews.
