Lee D. Gartner. M.D., 81, Lincoln, died Saturday (8-29-09). Born (8-31-27) in Lincoln, Nebraska to Herman F. Gartner, D.P.M. and Hulda (Look) Gartner. Urologist for 45 years, retiring in 1990. Co-founder of Urology, PC. Private pilot. Lee was an excellent Jazz pianist. Lt. Commander U.S. Navy Veteran of Korean Conflict. Graduate of UNL, University of Nebraska College of Medicine, at the time of graduation Lee was the 2nd youngest person in the United States to graduate from Medical School, Residency in Urology at Duke University. After retirement, graduated from Bryan Hospital School of Nursing and graduated from Airplane Mechanics School at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Family members include sons, daughters-in-law: Joe Gartner, M.D. and wife Jean Gartner, M.D., Michael Gartner, M.D. and wife LoRae, Sam Gartner; daughters: Deborah Saenz, Wendy Gartner, Julie Gartner; 12 grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, wife of 30 years Lois Gartner, brother, Kenneth Gartner, D.P.M.
