Kyle Aaron Bonesteel, 40 of Lincoln, NE, passed away in his residence on Tuesday, June 1, 2021.
Kyle was born to Jim and Diane (Trusty) Bonesteel on July 30, 1980. By the time Kyle was of school age, he and his brother Adam began school in Cozad, NE. In 1986, a third son, Ross, was added to their family. Kyle attended school in Cozad until his sophomore year when he joined Adam and Jim in Sumner, NE after Jim accepted an administrative position at the school. In 1998, the family moved to Sidney, NE following his father’s job change and graduated from Sidney High School in 1999.
Athletics was a major part of Kyle’s formative years. He took great pride in the fact that he was a varsity letter winner in three different schools. His greatest interest was in basketball. From playing in 3-on-3 tournaments, to the school varsity, he wanted to be like Mike (Jordan). Kyle developed a love of all sports by pledging his allegiance to every professional sports team in Chicago. (But not the White Sox) He idolized the Bulls through the Jordan years and da Bears of the NFL. He especially enjoyed the friendly ‘competition’ with his Aunt Linda, who was a Utah Jazz super-fan. As he grew older, the Cubs garnered his support and shortly after it was the Blackhawks. With a growing interest in hockey, he was ecstatic with the Blackhawks winning the Stanley Cup.
Kyle walked headlong into life, as evidenced by the numerous stories of family, friends and acquaintances. His heart was as big as he was as a man. If you were a person that he called a friend, he was deeply loyal to you and would help in any way he could, if called upon. You had to be willing to laugh, take a joke, and not be offended if he had a differing opinion. He enjoyed ESPN sports, All Nebraska sports, and his Chicago sports teams. Lately, he was an avid golfer and enjoyed the time when he and his daughter Isabel could play together.
Isabel became the love of his life in the last eight years. Anything he could do to make her life enjoyable and feel like an adventure, he was in for the long haul. He liked spending time with his family and his close friends. He looked forward to family vacation time in the Colorado Mountains.
Kyle was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; Floyd and Esther Trusty of Wallace, NE: Aunt and Uncle Linda and Arden Morrow of Leyton, UT: Uncle Russ Trusty of Lamar, CO: and Uncle Jim Trusty of Wallace, NE.
Survivors include his daughter Isabel and her mother Sarah, parents Jim and Diane Bonesteel of Lincoln, brothers Adam and Ross (Stephanie) Bonesteel, both of Lincoln, nieces and nephew Miya, Ella, and Finn Bonesteel of Lincoln, grandmother Eileen Worth of Lincoln (formerly of Sidney, NE) numerous cousins and extended families.
