February 18, 1935 - March 20, 2021

Kenneth W. Schmale

Kenneth W. Schmale was born on February 18, 1935, near Campbell, NE, to Albert and Esther (Meyer) Schmale. He passed away at the age of 86 on March 20, 2021, in Lincoln, NE. All who knew Ken knew that he loved Husker football and fishing. He was proud to have worked on the event staff at UNL for over 50 years. He enjoyed keeping a beautiful flower garden and fish pond. Above all, Ken cherished spending time with his family and friends and visiting with anyone.

Ken served in the United States Army. He farmed and then worked at Frontier Airlines. Ken owned H & H Plastic in Lincoln for 25 years and continued to assist his son at the company even after his retirement. Ken was a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church in Lincoln.

Ken is survived by his wife Emily (married 58 years); son Bryan; daughter Suzanne (Edward) Reinke; grandchildren Thomas and Alaina Reinke, all of Lincoln; sister Audrey (Ken) Peil, of Blue Hill, NE; sister-in-law Linda Schmale, of Shreveport, LA; niece Yvonne (Todd) Kranau of Blue Hill, NE; niece Julie Schmale and nephew Bert (Valarie) Schmale, all of Shreveport, LA.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim, and niece Cynthia Peil.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday (3-27-21) at Faith Lutheran Church, 8701 Adams Street in Lincoln, with Pastor Gary Dunker officiating. Face coverings are required for all in attendance. There will be no visitation, as it was Ken’s wish to be cremated.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Faith Lutheran Church or donor’s choice.
