Kenneth J. Gottula

January 31, 1930 - April 21, 2008

Kenneth J. Gottula, 78, Lincoln, died Monday (4-21-08). Born Table Rock, NE (1-31-1930) to Albert and Esther (Damm) Gottula. Ret. 1996, Civil Engineer, Nebraska Dept. of Roads. Graduate of Table Rock H. S. (1946); University of Nebraska with a degree in Civil Engineering (1950). United in marriage to Maxine Ibsen on June 21, 1953 in Upland, NE., to this union a son and daughter were born. Ken transferred to Lincoln in 1957 so he could be involved with the interstate project from the beginning to end. Ken was an avid Husker fan, and enjoyed every volleyball, basketball, baseball, and football game.

Member: Westminster Presbyterian Church; UNL Alumni Association; numerous engineering associations.

Survived by wife of 54 years, Maxine; son, daughter-in-law: Jeffrey and Tara Gottula; daughter, son-in-law: Lori and Greg Siepker, all of Lincoln; grandchildren: Benjamin and Nicholas Keeler; Christian Gates, Lincoln; Kelly Gates, Omaha; sisters, brother-in-law: Maxine Hunzeker, Humboldt; Ardis and Art Hunzeker, Pawnee City; brother, sister-in-law: Harold and Beverly Gottula, Franklin; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, sister – Lois Bowen.

Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Thursday (4-24-08) Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street. Rev. Dr. Andrew McDonald officiating.

Memorials to University of Nebraska Athletic Dept.

Visitation: 2:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Wednesday with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., funeral home.
