Joyce Evelyn Harb, 75, passed away at Bryan Medical Center June 12, 2019 as a result of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Born July 15, 1943 to Cecil and Evelyn (Walbrecht) Hulme. Registered Nurse for 43 years retiring in 2007.
She enjoyed vacations with her family especially her grandkids, participating in Bible Study at South Gate UMC, crocheting, quilting, and knitting. She was an avid reader belonging to several book clubs. Joyce was an active member of Bryan/LGH Alumni. She loved to garden which was one of her stress relievers. As she was in the garden she loved watching different kinds of birds and swallowtail butterflies.
Joyce was rabid New York Yankee fan and watched as many of their games as she could find on TV. A big red fan, she loved whatever of their sports were in season. Minnesota summer vacations with the family was a highlight of her year.
Joyce and Fred traveled frequently with friends or by themselves. Cruises to Alaska, Panama Canal and Hawaii. A land and train trip to the Canadian Rockies. A trip to Napa Valley on a wine tour then on to San Francisco touring the town in GoCars. An annual stay in the Phoenix area spending time with good friends and family.
Joyce loved cooking and entertaining in the home. Favorites were cooking steaks like a pro and caramel apple pie.
She had a very strong faith which guided her through every aspect of her life.
She is survived by her husband Fred of 55 years, daughters Jennifer Harb, Melissa Olberding (Dave), and Sonja Wieland (Scott). Grandchildren Sophia Pritchard, Trenton and Anna Kate Wieland, and Wilson Olberding. All of Lincoln. Step Brother-in-law Don Shattuck (Mary) and Step Sister-in-law Susan Melkus (Rich). Sisters-In-Laws Gala Hulme, Jeannie Hulme, Elizabeth (Mike) McCleery. Brothers-In-Laws Herbert (Janine) Harb, and Dennis (Mary) Harb and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, brothers; Tom and James, and sisters; Geraldine and Jeanette and sister-in law Clarann.
A celebration of Life will be: Saturday June 15th at 10:00am at Roper and Sons South Chapel 3950 Hohensee (SW corner of 40th and Yankee Hill) Rev. Stephanie Alschwede officiating.
