Joseph I. “Joe” Dappen, 89, Lincoln, passed away May 2, 2019. Born March 21, 1930 in Wahoo, NE to Theodore and Dorothy (Wuster) Dappen. U. S. Army Korean War Veteran. Chemistry teacher at Lincoln Southeast High School retiring in 1992, after 34 years.

Joe was a very active member of First United Methodist Church, Lincoln Northeast Rotary Club, and Habitat for Humanity.

Family members include his daughters Diane (Ken) Rousek, Lincoln; Janet (Roger) Hughes, Denver, CO; son Alan (Jann) Dappen, Omaha; grandchildren Matthew (Rina) and Justin (Haylie) Rousek, Kayla and Keegan Hughes, Chelsea, Ariel, and Kari Dappen; great grandchild Lauren Rousek; brother Gene Dappen, Des Moines, IA; sister Lois (Ray) Hinkly, Cedar Rapids, IA. Preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, brothers Bob (Barbara) Dappen, Logan, IA; Leon (Judy) Dappen, Papillion; sister Ardis (Rex) Bevins, Lincoln.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday (5-15-19) Roper & Sons Mortuary, 4300 ‘O’ Street.

Graveside Service: 2:00 p.m. Thursday (5-16-19) Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery, 6700 South 14th Street. Meet at gate #2.

Memorial Service: 4:00 p.m. Thursday (5-16-19) First United Methodist Church, 2723 North 50th Street with Pastor Larry Moffet officiating.
