Joanne M. Stahly, 85, Lincoln passed away October 24, 2018. Born June 27, 1933 in Rome, Iowa to Sheridan and Walcom L. (McMurren) Messer, Jr. She and her husband, Wayne, were married on June 7, 1953, and enjoyed 61 years of marriage before Wayne’s passing in 2014. Retired in 1995, after 16 years as medical transcriptionist for Wedgewood Medical Center in Lincoln. Joanne was a member of Northeast Missionary Church, Gideon Auxiliary and Lincoln Telephone Pioneers Auxiliary. She loved quilting and enjoyed making quilts for her family and friends.
Family members include her daughters, Bevery J. (John) Moyer, Sullivan, IN, Sandra L. (Roy) Nelson, Shenandoah, IA; sons, David W. (Julie) Stahly, Indianapolis, IN and Philip L. (Kyle) Stahly, Mt. Vernon, WA; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Melvin (Barbara) Messer and Karl (Patty) Messer, Mt. Pleasant, IA; sister-in-law, Carol Messer, Yarmouth, IA. Preceded in death by her parents; husband Wayne; sisters Pauline and Vera; brothers Gilbert and Emmett.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Saturday (10-27-18) Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street with Pastor Dave Miller officiating.
Memorials to Northeast Missionary Church or Gideons International.
Visitation beginning 3:00 p.m. Friday at Roper and Sons.
