Jim Cunningham
August 18, 1954 – April 18, 2022
James M. Cunningham, 67, of Lincoln passed peacefully in his sleep on April 18th, 2022. He was born in Omaha, NE on August 18, 1954, to James and Patricia Cunningham.

He is survived by his wife, Ardath Cunningham, son and daughter Sean and Elizabeth, brothers and sisters Tim (Barb) Cunningham, Patricia (Bob) Smolinski, Paul (Mary) Cunningham, Mary Horn, and Jeannie (Bart) Ketelsen, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Jim will be greatly missed by family, friends, and colleagues worldwide. He created adventure and laughter wherever he went. He never knew a stranger. Regardless of whether you knew him from rugby, school, being a friend, the Zoo Bar, being in his family, it didn’t matter, he loved you and he knew that you loved him. His stories, songs and wisdom will be missed but forever remembered.

I don’t have a memory since I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting him. My love and thoughts are with your family and everyone else that loved Jim. ❤️

Never short of a song, a punishing run, valiant defense, or help finishing a pitcher, Jim “Reject” Cunningham will always be one of my favorite teammates. A top fella to have on a tour, he is now experiencing the penultimate game – and they are lucky to have him!

My family has very fond memories of Jim Cunningham. He was always a very happy, caring, positive friend and coach to my sons’ childhood baseball and basketball teams. He was a great role model for sports since he participated in a lot of sports throughout his life. He was a wonderful person and we will miss his wonderful smile and humorous personality. Love, Russ, Mary Helen, Justin and Brandon Keller

A voice that could energize a room with “Mack the Knife” (or whosever name he was substituting at the time) and then turn around and soothe hearts with “The Last Rose of Summer”. Bold and confident. Adventurous and true. He became a hero in my eyes when he went after a snapping turtle using a stick to try to free a duck while he was helping Grandpa Finegan with the chores at Kruger’s lake in North Bend. I think I was seven or eight years old and in awe of his bravery. Kind eyes, loving heart, and unforgettable spirit.
