Jeanette (Jan) Maxine Sestak Keeney

March 26, 1930 - December 21, 2022

Jeanette (Jan) Maxine Sestak Keeney Returned to Heaven on December 21, 2022. Lifelong resident of Lincoln, Nebraska. Born March 26, 1930, to William H. Sestak and Mable A. Coleman.

Lifetime Member of Bethany Christian Church. Jeanette graduated from Northeast High School in 1948. She worked 10 years for Elgin Watch Company, then 26 years for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, retiring in 1994. She was a housewife, a Girl Scout Leader, and a Sunday School Teacher.

Jan enjoyed helping the less fortunate through Food Banks, Clothing Drives, and gathering toys for children in need. She also donated time and money as needed.

Roy and Jan traveled all 50 States, Mexico, Canada, many Caribbean Islands, and family trips to Florida and Germany. She enjoyed hunting (with her own .22 rifle), dancing, fishing, camping, boating, water-skiing, and cooking. She spent 42 years of summer weekends at a cabin by Tuttle Creek Lake, Kansas, and 24 warm winters in Mission, Texas, making friends everywhere.

Jeanette was a Blessing from God. This remarkable woman will be greatly missed.

Preceded in death by her parents, brother Donald Sestak, her sister Virginia Giffen, and Jan’s wonderful husband Clarence Le (Roy) Keeney.

Survived by two children, son Michael Roy Keeney and daughter Kathryn Keeney- Nicholsen (husband James Nicholsen); grandchildren Joren Nicholsen and Darcy Nicholsen – Kayl (husband Jonathan Kayl); great-grandchildren, Balen, Ava, and Edwin Kayl.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday (12-27-2022) at Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel (4300 ‘O’ St.). Visitation with family 1 hour prior at 2:00 p.m.

Private family interment.

So many childhood memories and to many to remember just one. We all loved her so much and she was the most gentle, loving person , Auntie and sister in law we could’ve asked for. Love Terra Ill always remember our trips to Vegas and time here in Arizona with me and Mary Lou. Rest in peace 🙏 give all the other Keeneys hugs from us. Love Dave
