Obituary

James Carda Jr.

December 15, 1976 - January 9, 2024

James P Carda, Jimmy, 47 of Lincoln NE passed away unexpectedly on January 9, 2024. Visitations will be held on Friday January 19, at Roper and Sons South Chapel funeral home from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Celebration of life will be held Saturday January 20th, at 10:30am, with a luncheon to follow. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery following the luncheon.

Jimmy was born December 15, 1976, in Liberal Kansas, son of Jim and Judy Carda. The family moved several times, living in Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, Oklahoma, and South Dakota. While in Oklahoma, Jimmy developed a love for baseball, was a great pitcher and had a talent for hitting the ball. He continued to play into his adult life.

Jimmy married the love of his life, Jennie Baker on April 24, 2004, in Columbus Nebraska.  Jimmy and Jennie were two peas in a pod.  They enjoyed playing darts together, hanging out with friends and watching HUSKER SPORTS. Jennie would like to invite everyone to share in Jimmy’s love for casual dress attire and the HUSKERS by dressing in their favorite HUSKER GEAR during Jimmy’s Celebration of Life.

Jimmy loved his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with family and taking Jennie on vacations. His favorite trip was when they went to watch the Vikings play at US Bank Arena and their family trip to the Ozarks where he got to take the entire family out on the boat, yes, they let him drive. He had a passion for Fantasy Football and never missed a Sunday morning of Redzone.

Jimmy was a Chef at Legacy Retirement Community where he enjoyed cooking for all the residents. Jimmy was a good cook. He looked forward to Holidays with the Baker clan, helping with holiday meals and baking cookies. Jimmy was a prankster and joke teller. I know you all remember the winning lottery ticket joke he played on his mom Judy. Jimmy loved life and was loved by so many. He will be dearly missed.

Jimmy is survived by his wife Jennie, his brother Jeff Carda (Shelly) of South Sioux City NE., two sisters, Terri McNaughton of Elk Point SD, Brenda Ortiz (Jay) of Sarasota FL.  His Father-in-law, Brad Baker of Lincoln NE. His Brother-in-law, Bryan Baker (Stacy) of Waverly NE. and several nieces and nephews.

Jimmy was proceeded in death by his Father and Mother, James and Judy Carda, his Mother-in-law, Mary Baker, and his sister Cynthia Carda.

In loving memory of my wonderful next- door neighbor. He was such a delightful person to talk to as he was coming or going. He and Jennie were the kind of neighbors one could only dream of. I miss him so much already. Love you Jimmi…….Go with God.

I am so sorry for your family’s loss. I remember so many laughs hanging out at Risky’s and your apartment nearby, and how much you two loved each other! Your love made an impression on me and I was honored to be asked to be in your wedding. Hugs Jennie… Prayers being sent your way.

Jimmy lived BIG! His laugh could fill any room and his heart was three times bigger than most! Lots of family memories were shared during his life…much laughter and some tears. He had a remarkable personality, and he loved his family deeply! I will always remember his favorite name, “Mare-bear” for his mother-in-law, Mary, my dear sister. They surely are rejoicing together with Jesus and the angels. I will never forget the fun and laughter you brought us – you will be missed always.

When I worked at Gramercy there was never a dull moment when Jim was working. He would be singing to Natalie and I could hear him at the front desk.

One of the best people I’ve ever been blessed to call a real friend. A friend that would do anything for you. A person who truly cannot be replaced. So much of a friend that he’s actually a brother. You will be missed by many. RIP brother
