J. Jeannine (Hultine) Bauer, 82, of Lincoln, died October 8, 2011 at Holmes Lake Manor in Lincoln. Jeannine was born on December 10, 1928 to Lloyd Edward and Judith Carolyn (Forsell) Hultine at her parent’s farm home, northwest of Saronville. She was baptized and confirmed at Saron Lutheran Church in Saronville. Jeannine attended Dist. 20 one-room country school, K-8, northwest of Saronville. She graduated from Sutton High School in 1946; Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Hastings, RN, in 1949; Coronary Care Nursing Course, Creighton Univ. School of Nursing, Omaha, in 1970; and Doane-Lincoln College, Lincoln, BS, in 1985. Jeannine retired in April 1986 after a 40 year administrative nursing career at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings and St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center, Lincoln.
Following retirement she became active in genealogy, having written 21 books related to family history, cemetery data, nursing and family events. She was united in marriage to Roger D. Bauer on September 18, 1949 at Saron Lutheran Church, Saronville. This union was blessed with two sons, Charles and Craig. They lived in Sutton, Hastings, and Lincoln. They enjoyed a blessed and happy life together and celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on September 18, 2011. Member of First Lutheran Church, Lincoln, since 1966. Former member of American Nurses Association, Nebraska Nurses Association and various other nursing organizations.
Jeannine is survived by husband, Roger D Bauer; sons, Charles D. Bauer and wife Jane of Hastings, Craig G. Bauer and wife Shelley of Lincoln; four grandchildren, Dustin C. Bauer, Brady D. Bauer and Ryan C. Bauer of Lincoln, and Jessica J. Bauer of Omaha; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gene and Donna Bauer of Sutton; aunt Jean Hultine, Sutton; nephews, nieces, and cousins. Preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Hildreth (Belcher) Hultine.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at First Lutheran Church, 1551 S. 70th St., Lincoln, with Pastor Brian Maas officiating. Internment at 3 p.m. at Sutton Cemetery, Sutton, with a reception to follow at Federated Church Fellowship Hall.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Bauer, Brady Bauer, Ryan Bauer, Jessica Bauer, Glenn Bauer, and Gary Bauer.
Visitation with family greeting friends one hour prior to service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, First Lutheran Church, or donor’s choice.
