Irene Larson, 91, passed peacefully Monday October 3, 2016 at her residence in Lincoln. Irene was born August 14, 1925 in Missouri Valley, Iowa to Barton and Grace McElroy. The third youngest of eight children.
Counted among her many accomplishments: Irene taught Sunday school, a great bowling team mate, community organizer and supporter, member of Eastridge Presbyterian Church, Hillcrest Country Club, and Women’s Junior League.
A very busy and special time for Irene was her work as an Interior Designer with many clients in addition to working with her husband’s home building career.
Duane and Irene celebrated 67 years of marriage this year. As a couple Duane and Irene visited 35 countries and developed lifelong friends. Irene was grateful for her blessings and gracious to those around her. She is adored by her family and community.
Irene is survived by her husband F. Duane Larson, brothers Rev. George McElroy and Rev. Gene McElroy, two sons Lynn D. Larson and Ronald L. Larson. Daughter-in-laws Lisa Larson and Christine Larson. Five grandchildren, P. David Larson, Lindsay Undeland, Lake Larson, Avery Larson and Ian Larson.
Memorial Service: 11a.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Roper and Sons Funeral Home, 4300 ‘O’ St. No visitation/cremation.
