Helen Marie Draper, 86, of Lincoln died August 2, 2018. Born July 3, 1932 in Havelock, NE to Asa & Ina (Smith) Gillispie. Helen was active with the Board of Directors of Lancaster Office of Mental Retardation, and served as a volunteer at Bryan Hospital for many years. She started Eastland Ministry for Mentally Handicapped and helped start the pre school. Member of Training for Retarded Youth (TRY) and received the Citizen of the Year Award from P.B.X.
Family members include daughter Jeri & Jeff Leach; sons Rick Draper & Dave Draper; Grandchildren Brittany Leach & Dustin Greenwalt, Jacob Leach, Emma Draper, Emma Johnson; nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Maxine ‘Mickie’ Gillispie, Maxine Gillispie and Jessamine Ross. Preceded in death by parents; Husband, Kenneth; Son, Charles; Brothers, Paul, Walter & Willard ‘Bub’; and sisters Ruth and June.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (8-8-18) Roper & Sons 4300 ‘O’ Street Chapel followed by a 1:30
Graveside Service at Lincoln Memorial Park.
Memorials : Down Syndrome Association for Families of Nebraska or to the family.
Visitation: Tuesday (8-7-18) from 3:00-8:00 PM with family greeting friends from 6:00-7:30 PM at Roper & Sons.
